Melissa is one of AgSafeBC’s regional consultants on Vancouver Island.

Melissa has completed the Occupational Health and Safety program with distinction from British Columbia Institute of Technology. She has also completed the OFA level 3 first aid training, H2S alive training, gas testing, isolation and lockout, WHMIS Train the Trainer, workplace bullying and harassment training, due diligence training, supervisor and manager responsibilities training. She is currently working on achieving her CRSP designation from the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals.

Melissa recently began working for AgSafe, as a Regional Consultant for the Vancouver Island region.

Melissa is a partner in Ken Lacroix’s Health and Safety Consultant Corporation. The Corporation provides health and safety consulting on Vancouver Island to various municipalities, universities and colleges.

She is currently elected to the Board of Directors for Mid-Island Co-op. The Board establishes the mission of the Co-op, formulates and implements policy, supervises and appraises the General Manager. In her capacity as a Director, she serves on a number of sub-committees.

Melissa has experience in various industrial sectors including supervising entry to confined spaces, monitoring gas testing, equipment maintenance, lock-out procedures, compliance of confined space entry permits, risk assessments and rescue plans. She has also been responsible for audit documentation, communication with emergency response personnel and ensuring responsibility of employees and contractors.

Melissa feels fortunate to be part of the AgSafeBC team. During her time at AgSafe, Melissa has assisted farmers to identify workplace hazards, reduce and eliminate risks to the workers, help mitigate risk and liabilities for the employers. Melissa takes great pride in coaching and counselling clients regarding the regulatory requirements in the agriculture industry, training, assisting clients in writing informal and formal safety programs.

Along with the AgSafe team, Melissa is doing her part to help British Columbia’s farmers and ranchers in continuing to support the safe growth and sustainability of the agricultural industry by encouraging clients to reach out to AgSafe BC’s Regional Consultants, safety advisors and office staff to learn which safety resources and programs are available in their area or commodity group.
