#AgSafety Leader – September 2016

MELISSA THIBAUDIER
PickMick Farms
“…continuing to improve safety by actively working towards AgSafe’s Certificate of Recognition.”

Melissa Thibaudier is the Herdsperson on her family-run dairy farm, PickMick Farms, located in the beautiful city of Delta, British Columbia.

Melissa handles everything from hoof trimming and breeding, to herd health and raising calves. Doing so many varied tasks, she has come to understand and respect the risks of being a dairy farmer.

Since day one, her father Harold has instilled in her the importance of safety on the farm and with the animals.

In fact, in a very rare circumstance, Harold invited WorkSafeBC to PickMick Farms to check things out and see where they could improve. WorkSafeBC had some helpful feedback, and Melissa got in touch with the team at AgSafe for some guidance.

Since the moment AgSafe stepped on to PickMick Farms, the Thibaudier family have been incredibly welcoming, and open to AgSafe’s suggestions. Melissa and the family took our advice and worked very quickly and very hard to respond to WorkSafeBC’s requests.

Beyond that, everyone on the farm is continuing to improve safety by actively working towards AgSafe’s Certificate of Recognition.

Melissa deserves to be recognized as a leader in the world of safety and hopes that her efforts can inspire other farmers, at all levels of farming experience.
