Profile: Barb Friesen

Barb Friesen is one of AgSafeBC’s Safety Advisors. She works in the Fraser Valley.
Barb has lived throughout our beautiful province and as a young teen her family planted their roots in the Fraser Valley. She has always loved living, working, and playing in the beautiful Fraser Valley and has made it her home with her husband and two sons.
As a young adult, Barb became passionate about safety. Starting off as a First Aid attendant and having to tend to the injured, she quickly became involved in safety with the drive to prevent injuries. Barb’s safety & health background includes work in various industries, such as, construction, forestry, waste and recycling and manufacturing. Barb graduated from the BCIT Health & Safety Certificate program with distinction and is working towards her CRSP. She has experience in several areas such as confined space, respirator fit testing, train the trainer, supervisor safety, WHMIS, working with safety committees, inspections and accident investigations.
Barb is a “people person” and loves working with and engaging workers. She truly cares about workers safety and health and is excited to work with the agriculture employers and workers to help them better understand and comply with the Regulations. “People are our biggest asset in business, and we need to keep them safe.”
Barb recently joined the AgSafe team and is working in the Fraser Valley region helping growers to grow their safety management systems to ensure that all workers go home at the end of the day.
