Profile: D’anais Jacques
D’anais Jacques is AgSafeBC’s Safety Consultant in the Central Interior Region.
D’anais grew up on a ranch in the Cariboo and has always had a kinship to the farming lifestyle. Raising primarily cows, she learned at a young age that safety in agriculture is an essential part of the work.
She started her career working as an equipment operator for haul trucks and heavy equipment and then transitioned to safety roles in the mining industry. She continued as a medic and safety advisor in the oil and gas field before shifting to heavy construction after completing her Construction Safety Officer ticket in 2012 at BCIT. During her time as a CSO in the construction industry she realized she missed the farming lifestyle and working close to home.
Returning to the Cariboo, she worked as the safety coordinator for a large-scale seedling nursery and then became a safety consultant at a local company specializing in audits, safety training and building occupational health and safety programs. She is incredibly grateful for the experience she gained working across various industries.
D’anais feels that her career in safety has now come full circle by joining AgSafe. She was raised to believe in the fundamental values of farming and ranching, and knows it is important to pass on the ideals and benefits of the lifestyle to her two young daughters.
The safety industry has always interested D’anais (perhaps having two rowdy brothers growing up had something to do with that) and digging into creative problem solving never seems to get old. Her future goal is to continue her safety education and obtain her Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation. The practical approach that AgSafe takes to work with farmers and ranchers aligns well with D’anias’ attitude and methods. Finding durable solutions for everyday safety in agriculture has always been important to her, and she looks forward to learning more in this essential industry.
D’anais currently resides on an acreage south of Quesnel with her partner and two daughters. Still raising cows, she loves gardening and raising muddy-boot-wearing girls. In her spare time, she enjoys hunting, hiking and being in the mountains.
