BZAM Cannabis first industry employer in Canada to earn workplace safety certification

Langley, BC / Jan 24, 2022 | BZAM Cannabis has successfully completed the AgSafe safety Certificate of Recognition (COR) program to become the first licensed industry employer in Canada to earn a workplace safety certification.

BZAM Cannabis is a multi-licensed Canadian cannabis producer employing almost 300 staff across their facilities and head office in British Columbia. BZAM began the AgSafe safety certification program in 2019, focusing on their facilities in BC’s Lower Mainland region with the goal to improve worker safety. Working with one of AgSafe’s safety advisors, the company immediately began developing and implementing a robust Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program.

“We’re incredibly proud of the hard work everyone put in to help us become the first COR certified LP,” says Jordan Winnett, Chief Commercial Officer at BZAM Cannabis. “Our people are an important part of our success and maintaining a safe work environment is a big priority for us. This achievement shows our commitment to protecting their health and safety.”

The Certificate of Recognition (COR) program is an incentive program that rewards employers who are committed to reducing workplace injuries. Employers who enroll in the COR program are committed to the safety of their employees and improving business practices.

“Participation in the COR program helps employers take their workplace health and safety systems to the next level,” says Wendy Bennett, AgSafe Executive Director. “COR is a proactive preventative maintenance strategy that’s good for business. We work with employers to help them become safety certified and get their health and safety programs really working for them.”

Health and safety programs make business operations more efficient, leading to increased productivity and profit. If your company has a health and safety program you may be closer to meeting COR requirements than you think. As a partner in safety, AgSafe helps companies meet workplace safety goals and become safety certified.
