AgSafe Superintendent of Field Operations inducted into the B.C. Cowboy Hall of Fame

Langley, BC / April 25, 2023 – AgSafe is proud to celebrate Reg Steward, Superintendent of Operations who was honoured as an inductee into the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame in the Builder of Western Culture category on April 16th in Williams Lake, British Columbia.

Featured on the cover of the April/May issue of Canadian Cowboy Country magazine, Reg is well known and respected throughout British Columbia, Canada for his love, understanding and support of the cowboy lifestyle and culture.

Reg, a long time consultant for AgSafeBC, continues to work as a contracted day cowboy and range rider. Working for several ranch operations in the Cariboo Chilcotin regions, enables him to apply his understanding, awareness and skill of the things that remain cowboy work best practices. Reg lobbies for the cowboy way of life and the cowboy way of work in today’s regulated work world. He is often invited to be a keynote speaker, conduct seminars and livestock handling clinics throughout North America, blending his passion for the cowboy way of doing things with his insight and understanding of the current ranching and farming industry climate.

Reg believes passionately in the ability of the younger generation to carry on the values and ethics of the cowboy life. He invigorates farm and ranch youth through his 4-H presentations and ever present volunteerism. Reg understands that times are different for today’s ranching youth, and he endeavours to address the pressures and challenges that the youth in the community face, regularly seeking to inspire them to follow and uphold the way of the cowboy.

For over 22 years, Reg Steward has been a ranching safety professional working for AgSafe in B.C. through his own company Buffalo Creek Consulting. As the AgSafe Superintendent of Field Operations, Reg counts it a privilege to work with and for ranchers and farmers throughout the province. Reg seeks to provide specific workplace health and safety training and knowledge that is practical, doable and applies experience-based solutions – the cowboy way.

Reg Steward is one of four 2023 inductees into the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame presented by the BC Cowboy Heritage Society and the Museum of the Cariboo-Chilcotin.

Quotes:

Wendy Bennett, AgSafe Executive Director –

“We are tremendously proud of Reg. His knowledge, insight and ‘boots on the ground’ approach has been invaluable to AgSafe, specifically his ability to see solutions and act quickly. During devastating wildfires and floods that left ranchers and dairy farmers struggling to manage and recover, Reg was able to quickly organize people and develop safety resources and protocols that helped producers manage the crises in a proactive way.”

Reg Steward, AgSafe Superintendent of Field Operations –

“This is a great honour. Words cannot express my appreciation for the initiative of the nominators, the commitment and diligence of the selection committee and the many folks who submitted letters of support. My father spent many years as a working cowboy, and he inspired my love of the cowboy life and ways. I’m pleased that I can be of help in seeking to keep my friends and the community safe, embracing the best of what is, with what has always been. It’s a way of life that I value and enjoy, and it is truly humbling to be recognized in this way.”
