Melissa has completed the Occupational Health and Safety program and the Health & Safety Practitioners Associate Certificate with distinction from British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). She is currently working on achieving her Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation from the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals. Melissa is a dedicated life-long learner who understands the importance of personal and professional growth and development.
Melissa strives to be leader in her field as a health and safety consultant, promoting positive cultural changes to mentor, motivate and inspire others. As a Regional Consultant for AgSafeBC, she assists Vancouver Island and Gulf Island agriculturalists and partners with industry to perform meaningful work that positively impacts members’ health and safety to support the success and sustainability of British Columbia’s agricultural sector while combating food insecurity at a local level.
She owns and operates a health and safety consultancy on Vancouver Island, was a former Director for Mid Island Consumer Services Co-operative which assisted her in gaining the knowledge and expertise in developing a solid foundation in corporate governance. Elected to Coastal Community Credit Union’s (CCCU) Board of Directors, Melissa is incredibly proud to be part of a locally-based and member-owned financial co-operative. She believes credit unions make meaningful, impactful differences and enrich people’s lives and their communities — inspiring her to add her talents to the credit union system. She recently completed various ongoing education to become a Credit Union Directors Achievement Program Graduate and ICD Enterprise Risk Oversight training for Directors and the Advanced Co-operative Governance Certification from Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy.
